Ways of Travel to Germany
There are various ways of travel to Germany:
By plane
Germany is easily reached by air from most provincial and main UK airports. Besides the traditional airlines such as Lufthansa and British Airways flying to Germany from the major airports London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh, there are a number of low cost carriers offering great deals from regional airports.
Some examples:
- Air Berlin flies from Manchester and London-Stansted to Berlin, Leipzig, Nuremberg, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Munich and Düsseldorf.
- With EasyJet passengers could fly from London-Stansted to Cologne, Dortmund, Berlin, Bremen and Munich.
- Ryanair offers flights from London-Stansted to Berlin, Hamburg-Lübeck and Bremen.
- Germanwings flights go from London-Stansted to Cologne and Hamburg and from Edinburgh to Cologne.
- With TUIFly passengers could fly from Manchester to Hanover and Cologne and from Newcastle to Hanover.
By train
For railway enthusiasts, or anybody living within easy reach of London Waterloo or Ashford International, the fast and efficient EUROSTAR is an excellent alternative to air travel. Most resorts can be reached in one day. With EUROSTAR travel from London to Cologne is less than 5 hours.
By car

Via the Eurotunnel:
From Folkestone in Kent to Calais in France the journey through the Eurotunnel takes only 35 minutes being a quick and efficient way to reach the continent. The transit time by car from Calais to Western Germany (Cologne area) is about 3 hours.
By Ferry:
A convenient way to set over from the UK is crossing the Channel on one of the many ferry routes. Using a ferry can also save clients from the North of the UK the long drive down to the South. From France or from the Netherlands Germany can be reached in a less than 3 hours drive by car.

- Dover to Calais in France - Services are operated by P&O. Sailings are frequent and the short crossing takes approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.
- Harwich to Hook of Holland in the Netherlands - Operated by Stena Line twice daily, the day time crossing on the new fast ferries takes 3 hours 40 minutes.
- Newcastle to Ijmuiden in the Netherlands - Excellent facilities with a choice of restaurants and entertainment is offered by DFDS. An overnight journey gives you the chance to wake up refreshed for next days driving.
- Hull to Rotterdam/Zeebrugge in the Netherlands - Crossing on North Sea Ferries is an integral part of the holiday due to comfortable cabins, restaurants, bars, live entertainment, a casino and a cinema.
- Rosyth in Scotland to Zeebrugge in the Netherlands - Superfast Ferries sail daily from Scotland to Continental Europe offering the highest standards in comfort and entertainment.
