The intimidating imperial domes in Worms and Mainz are impressive witnesses of 1,000 years of history along the longest European river. Each of them erected on crossroads of important trading and travelling routes, they are all surrounded by beautiful scenery. Cycle on flat cycling paths without any climbs along the river banks. In the wine-growing areas you will encounter slightly hilly territory.

Your itinerary:

Day 1 - Worms

You arrive at the imperial city of Worms with its dome dating back to the 12th century. See the Martin-Luther-Monument and the oldest preserved Jewish cemetery of Europe. The tour starts with an informative evening at your hotel.

Day 2 - Worms to Oppenheim

Enjoy comfortable cycling along river Rhine, sometimes on idyllic paths along old waters until you reach Oppenheim, the city of ‘gothic and wine'. Explore the town below the town, the labyrinth of Oppenheim and follow the traces of Martin Luther.

Day 3 - Oppenheim to Rüdesheim

The second imperial dome of the tour lets you discover Mainz, capital of the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Here you cross the river Main. Visit the Gutenberg Museum and enjoy a splendid view over Middle-Rhine-Valley from a cable car in idyllic Rüdesheim.

Day 4 - Rüdesheim to Alzey

Cross the river Rhine and reach Bingen located on the intersection of four wine-growing territories. As well as the ‘mouse-tower' in Binger Loch you should also visit the 10th century Drusus Bridge and the bridge chapel. The town of Alzey is closely linked to Volker, the fiddler from the famous Nibelungen saga.

Day 5 - Alzey to Grünstadt

Enjoy a short cycling day with time to discover the wine culture of the region. You visit the start of German Wine Street in Bobenheim and end in the tranquil town of Grünstadt.

Day 6 - Grünstadt to Worms

Enjoy the beautiful scenery on your way back to Worms for your homeward journey.
