Walker's Paradise
Set in the Bavarian Alps, Ruhpolding is an ideal location for the nature lover. If you like to take in the scenery in a more leisurely fashion you can take one of the mountain railways up the mountain: the Rauschbergbahn takes you to the peak of Rauschberg (1645m) where the summit offers stunning views over the Chiemgau Alps and the Chiemsee lake. The Unternberg offers spectacular views of the skiing area. Ruhpolding’s most famous building is the Pfarrkirche St Georg which is a good example of Bavarian Rococo. The town also boasts the ‘Vita Alpina’, a fantastic pool/leisure complex with indoor pools and water slides.
