Wagner Festival
25.07.08-28.08.08 - Bayreuth
The Wagner Festival is an annual celebration of the world-famous 19th century German composer, Richard Wagner. Held in Bayreuth every year between 25th July and 28th August, when thousands of Wagner fans from all around the world descend on this little Bavarian town to watch some of the most spell-binding operas ever performed.
From the Ring Cycle to the Parsifal, performances take place in a specially designed theatre, the Festspielhaus. Wagner personally supervised the original design and construction of the theatre, which contains many architectural innovations to accommodate the huge orchestras for which Wagner wrote, as well as the composer's particular vision about the staging of his works.
