International Festival Ludwigsburg
Since 1932, the festival in Ludwigsburg has been one of the most traditionally established and distinguished festivals in the German-speaking region.
Its exclusiveness lies in its variety of venues, its diversity of repertoire and its own Festival Ensemble with the Ludwigsburg Festival Orchestra and the Süddeutsche Madrigalchor Stuttgart, ensuring the continuity and quality of the festival concerts.
The Ludwigsburg Palace, the largest baroque residence in Germany, is the centre of the festival. The palace can boast the oldest intact European court theatre in working order, various historical rooms and an atmospheric courtyard. In addition to the settings the palace offers, there are the more intimate châteaux in the area: Favorite and Monrepos. A contemporary contrast, the Forum am Schlosspark, built in 1988, offers an exemplary stage with modern technology for major concerts, dance and theatrical events. The stable in the former Karlskaserne presents a further, alternative performance site.
