The annual Ancient Festival (Antikenspiele) takes place in Germany’s oldest town which has a history of more than 2,000 years. The ancient festival, an open-air festival based on works of ancient Roman and Greek writers, takes place in the amphitheatre where once 20 000 spectators could watch gladiators in combat. Highlight in 2008 are the opera "Nabucco" as well as the festival concert.
