"Sacred music in a secular sphere" is the motto of the 2008 Handel Festival. The program starts and ends with two masterpieces by Handel, the theme of which is the crucial theological concept of the Resurrection: Handel's early Italian oratorio LA RESURREZIONE (1708) and one of his most mature creations, THE MESSIAH (1741), from the period of his English oratorios.
