Walk the 7 m high walls of Neubrandenburg. Most of this historic town was destroyed during World War II, but the walls miraculously survived. The 52 guardhouses which studded the walls were converted into homes for the elderly and disabled in the 16th century. The 25 of these which remain have been restored and now house craft shops and cafes.
