Baden-Baden (pop 53,000) in the Black Forest - among visitors from abroad especially from America, Russia and Japan it is one of the best-known towns in the country: A health resort of international standing with the luxurious Casino, the racecourse of Baden-Baden/Iffezheim and the internationally renowned festival theatre.

 

Casino: The largest and oldest casino in Germany, and possibly the world's most beautiful.

 

Festival Hall (Festspielhaus): Seating 2500, this modern building offers the very best in technology, acoustics and ambience, ideal for performances of every kind.

 

Kurhaus: Built by Friedrich Weinbrenner and hub of Baden-Baden's social scene.

 

Lichtentaler Allee: world-famous park along the Oos, featuring over 300 species of tree and shrub.

 

Russian Church: built by Belzer, 1880-1882, in the Byzantine style.

 

City Museum in Baldreit: charts the town's history from its Roman origins right up to the 19th century.

 

Theatre: one of Germany's most beautiful. Built 1860-1862 in the same style as the Paris Opera House. Inaugurated with the première of the opera "Béatrice et Bénédict" by Hector Berlioz, before the composer himself.

 

Caracalla Hot Springs (Caracalla Therme): opened 1985. One of Germany's most beautiful hot springs.

 

Friedrichsbad: one of the town's oldest bathhouses, preserved in its original glory and renowned worldwide for its Turkish baths.

 

The Pump Room (Trinkhalle): decorated with pictures depicting the legends and tales of Baden. Today used as a tourist information centre and ticket office. With shop and café.
