The geographical centre of Germany, Hesse is bounded to the north-east by Bremen & Lower Saxony, to the east by Thuringia and to the south-east by Bavaria. To the south lies Baden-Württemberg, to the south-west Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland and to the north-west North Rhineland –Westphalia.
