- Constructed in the 1930s, The German Alpine Road is Germany’s oldest tourist route.
- It runs from Lindau on Lake Constance to Berchtesgaden, a total of 450 kms, up and over the foothills of the Alps and the Alps themselves.
- It passes 21 scenic lakes, 25 castles, 64 spa towns.
- The road crosses 105 bridges and goes through 15 tunnels.
- Its highest point goes over the 1735 m pass between Spitzingsee and Bayrischzell.
