Upper Swabia
Upper Swabia, also known as the "Baroque Kingdom of Heaven" is a cultural landscape characterised by churches and monasteries that offers a wealth of diverse activities - a gem far distant from political centres and major roads.
Upper Swabia is located in the south-east of Baden-Württemberg, bordered to the north by the Swabian Alb - a wild and mountainous area and the River Danube, and to the south by the beautiful mountainous region of the Allgäu and Lake Constance.
Upper Swabia is an area best explored by bicycle. The bicycle route Donau-Bodensee between the River Danube and Lake Constance and the two paths alongside the rivers Danube and Iller show the country from its most attractive side. These paths offer hundreds of kilometres of signposted routes for individual tours.
Upper Swabia is a ‘health’ region. A large variety of spas provide high-quality medical and therapeutic programmes and eventful wellness options.
Upper Swabia is a region that contributes to the joys of life. Alongside gourmet restaurants, old village inns are to be found with their scoured wooden tables and menus offering everything from good plain cooking to exquisite delicacies.
From Stuttgart and Munich Upper Swabia can be reached in 90 minutes on highways A8 and A96 or equally conveniently by train.
