Lake Constance: 571 km² in area with an average depth of 80 m and the greatest depth going down to 254 m. It has a shoreline 273 km in diameter, of which 173 km are in Germany, 72 km in Switzerland, 28 km in Austria/Vorarlberg and 46 km between Bregenz and Constance.

All around the lake are opportunities for excursions to real gems of history, culture, nature and recreation. Cableways: including Säntis, Ebenalp, Hoher Kasten, Pfänder, Karren. Spas dot the German countryside, and there are high Alpine landscapes if you look towards Switzerland and Vorarlberg. Excursions by train and bus are reasonably priced (i.e. Lake Constance Pass). Some rambling tours are based on specific themes.

The Changing Seasons
The charms of Lake Constance and its surroundings delight visitors at any time of year due to its scenic beauty and the great outdoors. It is also an ideal atmosphere for conferences and meetings with fine food and warm hospitality never out of season.
Nearby ski areas are in Vorarlberg, eastern Switzerland and in the Principality of Lichtenstein. Culinary specialities: Lake Constance wines, fish, asparagus, berries, fruit, vegetables, cheese, mushrooms, game. Customs and traditions are evident throughout the year (i.e. driving the cows back down from their summer pastures, New York’s and Shrovetide customs), traditional dress.
The Harbour Terminal of the “Zeppelin City” Friedrichshafen was built in a classic Bauhaus style. From July 1996 the restored building will display on a floor area of 4.000m², the world’s most important collection of the history of aviation.
