
Canoeing and Boating in the Barnimer Land
The Barnimer Land, just 30 miles north east of Berlin is characterised by historical monuments and buildings testifying the areas history of industrialisation. However the area is not all industry with the Schorfheide Heathland, one of the largest uninterrupted forested areas in Germany and part of the biosphere reserve "Schorfheide-Chorin" located here. See the Finow Canal, which for more than 150 years has served as an important inland waterway and was a major factor in the industrial development of the Finow Valley. Today holiday-makers enjoy activities such as canoeing or boating on the 30 mile long canal that flows into the old Oder River near Hohensaaten.
