Facts
- The 65 km of Rhine which carves its way through the mountains between Koblenz and Bingen, has some of the most dramatic and romantic scenery in Europe. It became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002.
- Baedeker started publishing his famous series of guide books in Koblenz in 1823.
- This is one of Germany's biggest wine producing regions. The Riesling grape is grown here, on man-made terraced slopes that go back to medieval times.
