Facts
- A hugely popular area for German tourists and an outdoor lover’s paradise. Excellent for cycling, downhill and cross-country skiing and hiking, it’s also an area scattered with spas for post-exercise relaxation.
- One of the few areas left in Western Europe where the Lynx can still be seen in the wild.
- The highest point in north and central Germany, with summits rising to over 1,000m.
- The mountains straddle the former East-West German border.
