Tour V: Traditions and the Narrow-Gauge Railway
A special attraction of the region is the number of narrow-gauge railways, each of them in its own way a unique technical monument.
Their engines, carriages and rail tracks are mostly well advanced in years, but have been looked after so lovingly that they are still in excellent condition.
A journey on them is a thrill. Of course the routes also contribute to this: sometimes straight, sometimes meandering, through magnificent landscapes, crossing picturesque valleys and bubbling streams, on iron bridges or brick viaducts.
