Tour IV: Music History to See and Hear
An important part of the great German history of music has its roots in this region. Handel, Bach and Wagner were all born here and wrote many of their works in Leipzig, Köthen and Dresden.
Music colleges in Leipzig and Dresden are named after Felix Mendelssohn and Carl Maria von Weber, with the one in Weimar named after Franz Liszt.
With Dresden's famous Semper Opera House, Leipzig's Gewandhaus Concert Hall and Halle's Handel Hall, the region has world-class venues, and the local orchestras and choirs nurture musical traditions in an exemplary way.
This route takes visitors along the tracks of the great composers of the Baroque, Classical and Modern periods.
