Germany's Best-known English Landscape Park
Dessau is known not only for the Bauhaus school of architecture and the masterpieces of important Bauhaus teachers such as Gropius, Klee and Kandinsky, but also for the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site made up of a number of ‘garden dream' parks.

Mosigkau Castle and Park make up a well-preserved rococo ensemble with a precious ‘gallery room'. The classicist Georgium Castle with its extensive English Garden is home to the Anhalt Painting Gallery with works by German and Dutch painters.
Wörlitz Park with the first classicist stately home built in Germany is the best-known of all the parks. In this landscape park, which is crossed by lakes and canals, many park buildings can be found. The rock island ‘Felseninsel Stein' is unique with a replica of Vesuvius and a villa dedicated to the British volcano explorer Hamilton.
The Baroque Oranienbaum Castle has the longest Orangery in Europe and a Baroque park with an Anglo-Chinese garden.
