Göttingen
Göttingen (pop 134,000) is primarily a university town. The Georg-August University was founded in 1734 and has so far produced some 40 Nobel prize-winners. The Brothers Grimm were professors here. It's also the home of “the most kissed girl in the world”, the statue of The Little Goose Girl (Gänseliesel), the symbol of the city. Traditionally, all graduating doctoral students have to give her a kiss.
