Brandenburg an der Havel (pop 75,400) is the oldest of the state’s towns, dating back to the 6th century. The city is divided by the Havel River, the Beetzsee and their canals, and connected by bridges. Visit the Coloured Chapel (Bunte Kapelle) of the Dom St Peter und Paul (Cathedral), with its wonderful decorations.
