Stuttgart, Capital of the State of Baden-Württemberg, is one of the biggest and most important cities in Germany. It is an industrial and cultural centre, famous for its ballet, its art collections and the ‘Königstrasse’ one of the longest shopping precincts in Germany.

- Population 590,000.
- Birthplace of Gottlieb Daimler’s petrol-powered high speed engine, and Robert Bosch’s spark plug.
- The Mercedes-Benz factory began car production here in 1926, and Ferdinand Porsche followed with his factory after World War II.
Must See's
Climb the 217 m TV Tower (Fernsehturm) for panoramic views of the city and on a clear day the Black Forest and Swabian Alps. This was Germany’s first TV tower.
Drool over the fabulous cars on display in the Mercedes-Benz Museum and the Porsche Museum.
Stuttgart is home to Germany’s second largest beer festival – the Cannstatter Wasen, started in 1818.
Check out one of the many Besenwirtschaft that appear throughout the city and suburbs between October and March. Wine growers hang a broom to the front of their houses to show they are open for tastings of the new vintages, and to serve typical Swabian dishes such as Maultaschen and Kässpätzle.
