Romantic Trier
Roman Emperors and Scenic Vineyards.
Trier is the oldest city in Germany. It’s situated close to Luxembourg and France and it offers spectacular surroundings and many cultural highlights to its visitors. The rivers Moselle, Saar and Ruwer wind their way through the area’s beautiful valley providing excellent conditions for wine growing. In addition, the city offers a captivating insight into history from the Roman era.
Monuments like the Porta Nigra and the Imperial Baths, built by the Roman emperors, are still impressive today and living history can be experienced during tours through these UNESCO World Heritage Sites or during the annual Roman festival “Bread & Circuses”.
Local museums offer ‘widely acknowledged’ exhibitions about the city’s history and about some of its famous inhabitants, like the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great or Karl Marx.
The local vineyards, found along the slopes surrounding the Moselle and Saar are well known for their excellent wines. Taverns and cafes offer the best surroundings to taste the wines of the famous Riesling grape.
With a variety of shops and department stores within walking distance of all the major tourist sites, the city of Trier offers the visitor a multitude of things to do and we are sure you won’t be disappointed.
