Regensburg - Medieval City on the Danube River
Regensburg's municipal history dates back to 179 AD. At that time, the Roman camp ‘Castra Regina' was completed under Emperor Marcus Aurelius.
After withdrawal of the Romans, Regensburg was the governmental seat of the Bavarian dukes and Bavaria's first capital, whose economic influence extended as far as Kiev in the 12th century.
The city was a free imperial city for six centuries. Tours like ‘Regensburg, Experience a Historic City', ‘Stroll through the Middle Ages' or ‘Castra Regina - Roman Regensburg', take you back into an exciting past.
