The city skyline gives Frankfurt its nickname of “Mainhatten” with 9 out of 10 of Germany’s tallest skyscrapers here.

 

The Commerzbank Tower is Europe’s tallest office block – 258 m high, or 298 m high if you include the antenna. It was designed by Britain’s Sir Norman Foster.

 

Frankfurt is home to apple wine taverns (Apfelweinwirtschaft) where you can sample the city’s favourite drink.

 

The Main Tower is 200 m tall and its viewing gallery gives spectacular views of the city.

 

The Römerberg is the heart of the old city – a cobbled octagonal square. Bombed in World War II, it’s been lovingly restored.
