The Cathedral of St. Mary in Erfurt
Erfurt's city is dominated by the Cathedral of St. Mary and the Church of St. Severus on the Cathedral Hill and 70 Steps run between the magnificent architectural ensemble of the churches. From August 5th untill 20th July, 2008 (Musical "Martin Luther") the Cathedral steps transform into one of the world's most beautiful festival stages and colourful plays, classical concerts, orchestras and choirs are performed.
The Cathedral Square is the perfect setting for one of the loveliest Christmas Markets (November 28th - December 22nd, 2008) with traditional crafts, Thuringian specialties and an enormous Christmas tree decorated with candles.
