Schloss Linderhof
Check out another of Mad King Ludwig II’s architectural forays. Schloss Linderhof is the smallest, but most appealing of the palaces, and the only one ever finished. Its park is dotted with fantastical little buildings; don’t miss the Venus-Grotte, an illuminated lake floating an enormous conch shell in which the king used to ride, all based on the set of Wagner’s Tannhäuser.
