Discover the wonderful diversity of Bavaria by visiting a selection of charming towns and culture-rich cities throughout the region on our tour across the picturesque home of the Lederhosen, Dachshunds, Sauerkraut and Wurst sausages. The tour culminates in Oberammergau, home of the world-famous Passion Play. The 2010 season will be the village’s 41st production of the Passion Play which dates back to 1634 following a pledge made to God by the villagers after the plague took the lives of many Oberammergau residents. They promised to celebrate the life and suffering of Jesus Christ every ten years with a dramatic performance of the last week of his life. It is now a time-honoured tradition that always attracts thousands of visitors.
