Sporting Possibilities in Baden-Württemberg

Plan as carefully as you will, you'll never run out of challenging new sporting options. Baden-Württemberg is a veritable paradise for rock climbing, hiking, bicycling, golfing, horseback riding, skiing, sledding, sailing, tennis, ballooning, canoeing, fishing .... Do we need to go on?

Steffi Graf and Boris Becker, both from Baden-Württemberg, finished atop world rankings for a very long time during their illustrious carreers. Both have put their rackets aside for quite some time now but they are still remembered everywhere. Present German champions like Sabine Spitz and Robert Klausmann with their successes in mountain bike downhill races and many others being in the ‚vanguard’ have contributed to make the Black Forest known in sports circles. The same is true for the Mannheim ice hockey team ‘Adler’ and the ski-jumpers Sven Hannawald and Martin Schmitt.

But as sports facilities go, Baden-Württemberg continues to be at the very top. Whether in summer or winter time, many guests prefer the kind of sport that allows you to discover the country. Whether you're a pro or an amateur, the topography of our state offers a great number of ideal runs for any desired degree of difficulty.

And for those looking for the big challenge - have a look at the training going on at the many large and small ski-jumps in the Black Forest. The world elite of ski-jumpers come from the Black Forest.
