Rheinsteig Trail

The Rheinsteig trail is the perfect way to experience the great outdoors!

The bank of the river between Wiesbaden and Bonn boasts one of Germany's most spectacular walks. Along this route, you will find never-ending forests, romantic valleys, idyllic and tranquil scenery, soaring cliffs and a variety of landscapes with great views across the Rhine Valley. The trail is with the possibility to choose different terrain

The main trail runs for more than 320 km along the edge of Rhine leading the visitor through woodlands and vineyards with wonderful views. Most of the walk is made up of narrow paths and challenging ascents and descents but it offers an adventurous way to experience the cultural richness of the Rhine Valley.

The Rheinsteig trail also allows visitors to explore Central European cultural history, Rhine romanticism and historic landscapes as there is plenty located in this area. In the upper central Rhine valley alone, located between Bingen and Koblenz, there are 40 castles, stately homes and strongholds.

This area is unique and has been acknowledged by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site for humanity since 2002.

The Limes near Bendorf-Sayn and Bad Hönningen has also been acknowledged as a cultural World Heritage Site since July 2005.
